Visiting tips
Avoid the queues
The best strategy is to visit the Louvre on a Wednesday or Thursday, either when it opens at 9:00 am or in the late afternoon after 4:00 pm.
The main entrance via the Pyramid is often the most crowded. The Carrousel du Louvre shopping arcade (99, rue de Rivoli) is often the most fluid entrance.
Good deals
For unlimited access all year round, there are several membership options. The "Amis du Louvre Jeune" card costs €22 a year for under-26s and €45 for 26- to 29-year-olds.
For professionals in education, teaching and the social field, the museum offers the "Carte Louvre Éducation et Formation" (CLEF), which is free of charge and offers, among other things, free and unlimited access to the collections.
Free admission
Admission to the museum is free for all visitors on the first Friday of the month after 6:00 pm (except July and August) and on July 14. You must reserve a time slot online.
Admission is also free for all under-18s, regardless of nationality.
For residents of the European Economic Area aged 18 to 25, admission is free on presentation of proof of identity.
Free admission also applies to teachers with an Education Pass, disabled people and their companions, jobseekers and those on minimum social benefits, as well as certain cultural professionals and journalists.
