Calanques de Marseille
Visiting tips
Essential information
Access to the massifs is often restricted or forbidden from June 1 to September 30 due to the risk of fire. Before going out, it is imperative to consult the access map published every day at 6pm for the following day on the park's official website or via the "Mes Calanques" application.
Good deals for the Calanques
The "Mes Calanques" application: Download the official National Park application. It's essential for real-time information on access conditions (fire hazards), closures and hiking itineraries.
Choose your calanque
The easiest to get to: Port-Miou (from Cassis), a harbor calanque with no real beach, but the starting point for other calanques.
The most family-friendly: Sormiou. You can reach it by car in the off-season and find restaurants here.
The most spectacular: En-Vau. It takes a good hour's walk to get there, but the reward is a pebble beach framed by vertiginous cliffs.
Spring and autumn are the best seasons for hiking. Temperatures are ideal, nature is magnificent and crowds are much less dense.
