The Palais Galliera has no permanent collections, and only opens its doors for temporary exhibitions. Between each event, the museum is closed. It is therefore imperative to check if an exhibition is on before planning your visit.
The best times to visit the museum are in the morning, just after opening, between 10 and 11 a.m., or later in the afternoon, around 5 p.m., when the crowds start to thin out before closing on a Wednesday or a Friday. If possible, avoid Saturdays and Sundays, especially the 3 to 4 p.m. slot, which is the busiest time of the week.
If you're planning to visit several of Paris' museums, opt for the Paris Musées Card. Offering unlimited, ticket-free access, it becomes profitable on the third visit.
During the summer months, a temporary restaurant is set up in the museum's magnificent peristyle courtyard. Don't forget to book, as this is a very popular address.
