Busy days and best times to visit
The best time for a more peaceful visit is in the morning, from the opening at 9am. The rush increases considerably at the end of the morning. Choose a mid-week visit: Wednesdays and Thursdays are the ideal days to enjoy the collections in complete peace of mind. Avoid early weekdays and weekends. The busiest days are Mondays, when other major Paris museums are closed, diverting some visitors to open museums, and Saturdays.
Good deals
Admission is free on the first Sunday of every month. But it's a very busy day. Online reservation of a time slot is essential to ensure entry.
The "Carte Blanche", a pass shared by the Musée d'Orsay and the Musée de l'Orangerie, gives unlimited priority access, avoiding long queues.
